Ron Arad, in collaboration with master violin maker, Stefan-Peter Greiner.
Strings consists of four violins, carefully adapted to perform music autonomously through their vibrations alone. The magical and mystical atmosphere is balanced by absolute acoustic authenticity. By presenting instruments without musicians,
Arad invites us to consider the relationship between the object and the act of performance.
Royal Academician,
Ron Arad (b 1951), has garnered international acclaim for his architecture, design and art-making. Architectural projects include the Holon Design Museum (Tel Aviv), Watergate Hotel (Washington) and others. Collaborations include Vitra, Alessi, Grundig and Venini. Exhibitions include V&A (London), Vitra Design Museum (Weil am Rhein), Barbican (London), Centre Pompidou (Paris) and MoMA (New York). Collections include V&A (London), MoMA (New York & San Francisco), the Met (New York) and Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris).
Prices range from £25,000 to £70,000.
