Jan Kaláb

SELECTION OF WORKS

Jan Kaláb developed his practice in the context of Eastern Europe after the fall of the Iron Curtain, having started out as a graffiti artist in Prague. He uses the circle as a container of matter that vibrates with color. Kaláb’s works often seem as if they’re about to explode, creating a tension in perception by un-framing the canvas and flooding space. Therefore, such ambiguities in the nature of his works seem to melt the space between sculpture and painting.

His works are part of the museum collections of the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Cedar Rapids in the USA; Museum Nacional de Belas Artes, Rio De Janeiro in Brazil; DEJI Art Museum in China; Osan Museum in South Korea.

His artwork is part of the private collections of Dior and Tiffany.
