Alex Pascual

b. 1975 Barcelona
Lives and works in Copenhagan, Denmark

Alex Pascual was born in Barcelona in 1975. He completed a bachelor's degree in fine arts & design and a master’s degree in Artistic Production & Research at the University of Barcelona. After two years living in Dublin, he moved to London and lived there for a decade. In 2023, he relocated to Copenhagen, where he currently lives and works. Through intimate drawings, Alex captures the quiet poetry of the ordinary—posing friends, messy kitchens, overflowing laundry baskets, fleeting gestures—moments where the familiar reveals something unexpectedly vibrant. Working from observation and memory, Alex dwells on small details, letting each line hold the warmth of a lived moment. He works primarily with colored pencils on paper, beginning with rapid sketches from life, which he later revisits in the studio to refine, enrich with color, and evolve further from memory or imagination. This process allows him to react spontaneously to reality, then transform initial perceptions by layering, erasing, and redrawing until each drawing becomes distinct and deeply personal. Alex has exhibited in various cities, including Barcelona, London, Newcastle, Berlin, and Stege, Denmark, and has been selected twice for the prestigious Trinity Buoy Drawing Prize in London.
