Nick Herd
'Another Green World'

Jerico Contemporary is delighted to present 'Another Green World' our third solo exhibition with New Zealand artist Nick Herd. The exhibition will took place off-site in New South Wales’ oldest glasshouse, the Palm House in the Botanic Gardens of Sydney. The show opened at the Palm House Thursday 3rd of April and will now continue online.

In his latest series Another Green World the artist delves into the passing of time, capturing day as it fades into night. Here, Herd’s arrangements are offered to us both in paint and sculpted form. With radically layered textures, and bold defining strokes; the flowers appear as if they are moving across the canvas. The artistic process for Herd, originates with fresh floral arrangements which he paints over a series of days; meaning that each time he sits to paint the arrangement has bloomed, decayed or moved.

The passing of time has long been at the centre of Herd’s artistic practice, but in this latest series it is evident conceptually with the introduction of a darker, moodier palette signifying light disappearing from his studio and everything merging into the night.
