We will be showing work by prominent contemporary artists, accompanied by a small selection of complimentary vintage work.
Sohei Nishino has garnered international acclaim for his large-scale psycho-geographical dioramas. For these projects, Nishino takes 4000-5000 analogue photographs over 2-3 months, before collaging them together entirely by hand. Nishino’s dioramas have been exhibited and acquired by museums including SFMoMA, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Amana Collection, Japan. His two new works, Mount Everest and Journey of Drifting Ice, confront climate change and illustrate a new direction in his diorama series; these images no longer simply record, but also provoke comment on our environment’s perilous situation.
Irish photographer Eamonn Doyle, who we also represent exclusively, will have three works from his K series on display. Doyle’s most recent project, opening later this year at MAPFRE, Madrid, focuses on shrouded figures, which become totemic, sculptural forms in the landscape. These works are an extension of his series, K, shown in Paris, Dublin, New York and London.
To compliment this selection, we would like to hang important vintage works by Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase alongside works by Horacio Coppola, Enrique Metinides, Sergio Larrain, Juana Gomez and Kati Horna. Hungarian-born Horna moved to Spain during the Civil War with her friend Robert Capa, and made important photographs of the conflict before moving to Mexico where she lived for the rest of her life.
