The exhibition ‘SYMBIOSIS | Art between man and nature’ at the Kunsthalle Augsburg in the Glass Palace examines the complex relationship between man and nature. It poses the question of how art can make this connection aesthetically and conceptually tangible. Through the works of the four selected international artists - Paul Diestel, Christiane Löhr, Clare Langan and Nathan Peter - the symbiosis of man and nature is illuminated in various facets: from the fragility of natural processes to the poetic narrative of the landscape to materiality and design as an expression of natural forces. The contrasts and harmonies between natural processes and human influence are made tangible.
In his works, Nathan Peter (*1978) works with layers and superimpositions that merge natural and artificial elements. His paintings, reliefs and installations deal intensively with the concept of transformation - be it through erosion processes, weathering or the deliberate intervention of man. Peter often uses materials such as wood, bitumen, metal, textiles and pigments to create a connection to nature and at the same time visualize its manipulation by humans.

Die Ausstellung »SYMBIOSIS | Kunst zwischen Mensch und Natur« in der Kunsthalle Augsburg im Glaspalast untersucht die komplexen Beziehungen zwischen Mensch und Natur. Sie stellt die Frage, wie Kunst diese Verbindung ästhetisch und konzeptionell erfahrbar machen kann. Durch die Werke der vier ausgewählten, international tätigen Künstlerinnen und Künstler – Paul Diestel, Christiane Löhr, Clare Langan und Nathan Peter – wird die Symbiose von Mensch und Natur in verschiedenen Facetten beleuchtet: von der Fragilität natürlicher Prozesse über die poetische Erzählung der Landschaft bis hin zu Materialität und Formgebung als Ausdruck natürlicher Kräfte. Dabei werden die Gegensätze und Harmonien zwischen natürlichen Prozessen und menschlichem Einfluss erfahrbar gemacht.
Der Künstler Nathan Peter (*1978) arbeitet in seinen Werken mit Schichtungen und Überlagerungen, die natürliche und künstliche Elemente miteinander verschmelzen lassen. Seine Gemälde, Reliefs und Installationen setzen sich intensiv mit dem Konzept von Transformation auseinander – sei es durch Erosionsprozesse, Verwitterung oder das bewusste Eingreifen des Menschen. Peter verwendet dabei oft Materialien wie Holz, Bitumen, Metall, Textilien und Pigmente, die eine Verbindung zur Natur herstellen und zugleich ihre Manipulation durch den Menschen sichtbar machen.
