Bahasa IndonesiaChen Sung-Chih, lahir di Nantou, Taiwan, pada tahun 1978, menyelesaikan pendidikan di Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts, Tainan National University of the Arts.
EnglishChen Sung-Chih, born in Nantou, Taiwan, in 1978, graduated from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts at Tainan National University of the Arts. His practice engages materials such as paper, fabric, wood, dust, soap, and everyday objects, subjecting them to repeated processes of folding, bleaching, covering, pressing, and layering until they undergo irreversible transformation.
Within Material Polyphony: Traces of Labor, Order, and Transformation, Chen approaches material as a site where traces of action and time accumulate. Repetitive acts of labor disrupt the material’s original order, allowing cracks, stains, folds, and abrasions to emerge as evidence of transformation. Rather than functioning as passive supports, materials become active records of memory, action, and duration.
