Minyades

Carl Andre & Richard Höglund

The Bonnier Gallery is pleased to present Minyades, opening during Miami Art Week on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 at 7PM. The exhibition, featuring works by Carl Andre and Richard Högund, will be on view through February 26th, 2022.

Minyades is an exploration of the Greek mythology surrounding The Daughters of Minyas, from Ovid's epic poem Metamorphoses, in which three sisters weave on looms while telling stories of unrequited love. “This new exhibition is a synthesis of poetry, painting, and sculpture ─ demonstrating how different artistic mediums interact and engage with each other throughout time,” says Grant Bonnier.

This exhibition also marks the debut of the gallery’s first publication, “MINYADES” an exhibition catalogue by Richard Höglund featuring texts by Benoît Antille and Jill Silverman van Coenegrachts. In addition to the catalogue, The Bonnier Gallery has also published a series of limited edition copper-plate etchings at Ateliers Moret in Paris. Each boxed set will feature five prints corresponding to the paintings in the exhibition.

Richard Höglund’s new paintings have a lot to tell you right now…” writes Jill Silverman van Coenegrachts, “Here is the radical zone of Höglund’s mid-career finally appearing, here is the type of paintings you can sink your teeth into. Reminding us that painting can still take us to uncharted, uncomfortable territories…”
