Slawomir Elsner

Drawing Now

For this year’s edition of Drawing Now Lullin + Ferrari showcases at Booth A2 a solo exhibition by the Polish artist Slawomir Elsner (1978*). He has gained prominence as an outstanding draftsman, with a characteristic line and procedure. Over the past years he developed the ability to reinterpret Old Master and Modern paintings in the crayon technique. For our presentation in Paris he will concentrate on works by the French artist Edouard Manet. The main criteria for choosing these specific paintings was that the works, one would expect to be in museum collections in France, are surprisingly in collections outside of France. Slawomir Elsner reassembles these works in our stand in a unique presentation. In between his blurring crayon drawings Slawomir Elsner includes one large light blue watercolour in which the viewers can immerse themselves. In a space for reflections in its own right.

Slawomir Elsner’s work is in the following important collections: Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen and Staatliche Museen zu Berlin DE; Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; KiCo Foundation permanent loan for the Lenbachhaus, Munich DE; Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, Munich DE; XXL Collection of the German Stock Market, Frankfurt on the Main DE; Cusanuswerk, Bischöfliche Studienförderung Bonn DE; Rubell Family Collection, Miami USA; Collection of the LBBW, Stuttgart DE; Ostsächsiche Sparkasse, Dresden DE; me Collectors Room, Berlin DE; Roche Art Collection, Basel CH

Situated in a spacious location in Zurich in close neighbourhood to the Löwenbräu area, Lullin + Ferrari shows an exciting exhibition program representing artistic positions, which reflect a historical consciousness and an art historical awareness. The focus is on conceptual positions combining intellectual thoughtfulness with visual rigor. In November 2024 Lullin + Ferrari celebrated their 100th exhibition. Works on paper hold an important position in the gallery program. Lullin + Ferrari operates as a connoisseur boutique gallery.
