September 18-21, 2025

Fridman Gallery is pleased to present new works by Nate Lewis and Naomi Lisiki at the inaugural edition of Untitled Art, Houston.

Nate Lewis’ signature paper-carving techniques explore connections among the visual languages of dance, anatomy, medical diagnostics and weather-pattern data. Nate Lewis earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, and practiced critical-care nursing for nine years. Lewis’s work is held in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Blanton Museum of Art, the International African American Museum, the Wellin Museum of Art, and the Artistic Museum of Contemporary Art, among others.

Naomi Lisiki's paintings are inspired by the lush flora and spirituality of her native Gaudelupe, where endless agricultural fields evoke vitality and memory. In warm tones of red, orange, and deep blue, the paintings form their own landscapes, alive with movement like sugarcane swaying in the wind. The works also reflect her fascination with alternative photographic processes, particularly cyanotypes, which she describes as “shadows of a life, fossils of flora, imprints on rocks.” Like a photograph fixing a fleeting moment, the paintings hold movement in suspension—an intangible sensation of memory and place.
