NOSTALGIA

A Collaborative Photography Exhibition to Benefit The Felix Project

JG Contemporary and Lainey Sheridan-Young are proud to present NOSTALGIA, a collaborative group photography exhibition that delves into the power of memory and emotion. Running from 2 - 13th of October, 2024, this exhibition will feature the works of several talented photographers, each exploring their personal interpretations of nostalgia through a unique and intimate lens.

Nostalgia, a sentiment that intertwines memory and emotion, evokes a longing for the past. The exhibition seeks to capture the essence of these feelings, transporting viewers to moments of joy, sorrow, love, and reflection. Each participating artist offers a deeply personal exploration, creating a diverse collection that invites audiences to reconnect with the past while reflecting on its impact on the present.

Photography and nostalgia share an intrinsic bond, as the medium preserves fleeting moments in time, allowing us to relive experiences, emotions, and histories. Whether through vintage aesthetics, faded colours, or evocative subjects, the works on display remind us of photography's enduring ability to stir the heart and mind. The exhibition acts as a bridge between the past and the present, exploring how memories shape our identities and understanding of the world.

In addition to showcasing captivating photographic works, NOSTALGIA aims to support a worthy cause. A portion of the proceeds—10% of all sales—will go to The Felix Project, a London-based charity committed to combating hunger and food waste. The Felix Project collects surplus fresh and nutritious food and distributes it to charities and schools, ensuring healthy meals for the most vulnerable in our society. Through this partnership, the exhibition not only engages with the theme of nostalgia but also contributes to a vital mission of addressing food insecurity.

The exhibition will feature an opening evening, and throughout the week, a series of curated talks will explore both the artworks and the broader theme of nostalgia. These discussions aim to inspire thought-provoking and intimate conversations about the role of memory in art, while also raising additional funds for The Felix Project.

NOSTALGIA promises to be an inspiring and reflective exhibition, offering viewers an opportunity to experience photography in a meaningful way while contributing to an important cause.
