Vintage Paperbacks by The Connor Brothers

The Connor Brother’s vintage paperbacks are humorous, ironic, and thought-provoking from the British duo's highly popular pulp fiction series. Made by hand painting and adding silkscreen varnish to mid-20th century books, this series provides commentary on contemporary society and human emotions. With these witty literary artworks The Connor Brothers have moved into three dimensions, creating each one on the cover of a vintage paperback book, and stylishly presenting it behind glass in a floating frame. There are just 2 copies available in each edition, and every individual artwork has been hand painted in a vivid hue.

Through their vintage paperback artworks, The Connor Brothers engage in cultural critique. Tackling themes such as love, relationships, consumerism and societal norms, often using satire and irony to deliver their messages.Since their identity was revealed by the Telegraph over 10 years ago, The Connor Brothers have been stirring up the art world with their hard-hitting combination of retro design and contemporary satire. They are highly valued and outspoken supporters of countless social causes, collaborating with partners such as Noel Gallagher and Pussy Riot, and using their art to raise awareness and funds for CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably), the Teenage Cancer trust, and numerous homelessness and refugee charities. Their work has been included in such major collections as the V&A, the Omar Koch, Niarchos and Penguin collections, and Banksy’s dystopian ‘bemusement park’ Dismaland.
