Long Story Short presents Holding on to Gravity, a solo exhibition by London-based artist Miyeon Yi, on view October 17–November 14, 2025, at 54 Henry Street, New York, NY 10002. Known for her intimate, object-based paintings that merge memory and ritual, Yi transforms found wooden structures—drawers, cupboards, and small boxes—into miniature stages for acts of remembrance.
Working in egg tempera on wood, Yi layers delicate imagery within these vessels, where figures reach, pause, or vanish from view. Her scenes unfold like quiet performances—moments suspended between tenderness and disappearance, where presence and absence coexist in fragile balance.
Each piece carries the trace of touch: panels open and close, revealing worlds that tremble between the real and the remembered. Through these gestures, Yi asks what it means to hold something close when it no longer has form—to remember not through image, but through care.
