The Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) reviews every visual image associated with films that they have rated (ads, posters, digital promotional, etc.) and approves or disapproves their release and use. In Weist's case, three posters were approved for her short film Governing Body and four posters were rejected for their depiction of childbirth, breastfeeding, recreational marijuana and nude sculptures. By choosing to exhibit (and sell) these posters despite their "disapproved" status, Weist is risking sanctioning and other punitive retaliation from the MPA.
