갤러리현대는 정주영 작가의 개인전 《그림의 기후》를 오는 2월 15일부터 3월 26일까지 개최합니다.
정주영은 풍경을 바라보는 우리의 태도, 풍경에 대한 해석과 동시대적 의미를 회화 매체로 탐구해왔습니다. 이번 전시에서는 알프스의 산 풍경을 담은 연작을 비롯해, ‘기상학(meteorology)’을 주제로 새롭게 선보이는 회화 작품들이 대거 공개될 예정입니다.
산과 같이 명확하고 견고한 대상을 주로 그려왔던 작가는 물과 안개, 구름과 하늘 등 산 너머의 공간으로 시선을 확장해 나갑니다. 재현할 수 있는 대상보다는 날씨, 시간의 변화, 하늘, 일출과 일몰처럼 끊임없이 변화하는 재현 불가능하고 모호한 것을 그림의 대상으로 삼고, 화면에 붓질을 반복해서 겹쳐 쌓아가면서 형상보다 색의 표현에 비중을 둡니다.
정주영 작가의 개인전 《그림의 기후》는 혼돈과 덧없음 자체를 표현함으로써 회화와 풍경의 새로운 가능성을 제시하는 자리가 될 것입니다.

Chung ZuyoungGallery Hyundai is pleased to present Chung Zuyoung’s solo exhibition Meteorologica from February 15 to March 26, 2023.
Chung Zuyoung has been exploring our attitudes in viewing and comprehending landscape and its interpretations through painting. The exhibition features the Mountain series capturing the Alps and new works under the theme of “meteorology.”
Chung Zuyoung, who has been mainly painting clear and solid subjects, expands her gaze towards the space beyond mountains such as water, fog, clouds, and sky. Chung’s works shifted from representable to un-representable and vague subjects such as weather change of time, sky, sunrise and sunset, and more weight is put on the expression of colors rather than the form by layering multiple hues.
Meteorologica will be a place to show new possibilities of painting by expressing chaos and ephemerality.
