The continual practice of transformation and transcendence is a constant in my work. It’s important to me that the paintings are both an expression of the elevation of consciousness as well as a means of experiencing this within the process.” -JH

Hackenwerth’s series The Prayers, showcases the artists lexicon of recurrent imagery and establishes him within the ranks of the great mark makers of our generation. Expressing what cannot be spoken, Hackenwerth’s paintings can be felt within the soul. Each work is another representation of the human spirits triumph over sorrow and a celebration of the joy of being.
