My work is grounded in observation and a lifelong fascination with the way we perceive the world around us. Working primarily in a realistic style, I explore reflections, portraiture, marine subjects and the unexpected visual relationships found within everyday scenes.

My reflections series began in Dubai, where I became captivated by the distorted images appearing across the mirrored surfaces of the city’s towers. Translated onto canvas, these reflections become visual puzzles—blurring the boundary between reality and illusion and inviting the viewer to look more closely.

Travel and life across the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Australia have provided an enduring source of inspiration. My Merseyside background and inherited love of ships and waterways continue to influence my marine paintings, while portraiture allows me to explore something more personal: the fleeting expression or familiar gesture that reveals the character of the individual.

Although realism remains central to my practice, I often introduce an element of whimsy or surprise. Through each painting, I aim to create an engaging visual experience that rewards careful observation and encourages the viewer to discover something new.
