Lyndsey Ingram is pleased to present an important selection of 1930s photographs by Man Ray for Frieze Masters 2026. The presentation includes complete portfolios of both Les Champs Délicieux and Electricité alongside other significant photographs from the period. Beginning his career as a commercial artist, Man Ray soon developed a diverse practice that extended across photography, painting, sculpture, assemblage and film. A pivotal moment came in 1915 when he met Marcel Duchamp whose ideas and friendship helped propel him towards the avant-garde and more radical experimentation.
We are also delighted to present a group of photographs by Lee Miller, which come directly from the Lee Miller Archives. Taken between 1930 and 1964, this diverse selection of photographs traces Miller’s extraordinary life, from her early work as a model and photographer, to her career as a war correspondent and into her years following the war.
In 1929, Man Ray met Lee Miller, who had arrived in Paris with a letter of introduction from the photographer and mutual friend Edward Steichen. Often described as an intense and tumultuous love affair, their relationship was equally significant as a creative partnership. Collaborating closely and, at times, interchangeably, Man Ray and Miller pushed photographic experimentation in new directions, most notably through their shared development and use of solarisation. We are delighted to be working closely with the Lee Miller Archives to present 19 photographs by Miller, bringing the two artists’ practices into dialogue and allowing their work to be viewed alongside one another at this year’s Frieze Masters.
