BUTTER 2025 | SHAMIRA WILSON
Shamira (Indianapolis, IN) is an interdisciplinary visual artist and okra farmer. Shamira creates artwork based on the geometry of plants. Plants speak in signs and symbols which she translates with paint, pigment, and fiber. She holds a BA in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University with an emphasis in wellness, entrepreneurship, and visual art and has studied Furniture Design and Woodworking at the Herron School of Art and Design. She has exhibited nationally and internationally at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts residency in Deer Isle, ME, the Art for Change residency in New Delhi, India, and participated in an organic agriculture immersion in Vedado, La Habana, Cuba. Her artworks are in the collections of various organizations across Indiana including the Indiana State Museum and Newfields.
