To celebrate the publication of a significant monograph on Kees Visser's 50-year career, the gallery is pleased to present the fourth solo exhibition of one of the artists with whom it has been linked since its creation. Published by NAi Publishers, this 320-page monograph was conceived with the careful collaboration of Irma Boom, and with the support of the Mondrian Foundation. Entitled "Monochrome?", it includes a major essay by art historian Hubert Besacier and Marja Bloem, former curator at the Stedelijk Museum.
Kees Visser's exhibition will present a group of his latest paintings in the main room, subtly playing with a monochrome that is more polychromatic than one might expect.
Numerous institutions have held Kees Visser's solo shows, among which the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis which gave him a retrospective exhibition in 2009, and the National Gallery of Iceland in conjunction with the Living Art Museum of Reykjavik presented two important exhibitions of Kees Visser in 2013.
His works are in several international private and public collections (Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, National Gallery of Iceland, Living Art Museum in Reykjavik, MOMA in New York, Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Bibliothèque Kandinsky at the Centre Pompidou, etc.).
