CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTER! ii , curated by Tif XB, an international summer group show featuring paintings, drawings, sculpture, and mixed media works by 20 emerging artists. In video games, players select their arena and their fighters, and in the context of art, artists decide what they depict and how.
Choose Your Fighter! ii is a survey of experimental and narrative driven work that investigate topics on identity, auras, perception and the different stages of life.
From the undefined and contemplative spaces that infers a dream-like state (Zoë Argires, Susan Kim Alvarez, Chris Retsina, Inés Maestre) to world-building through unique combinations of imagery (Stephanie Temma Hier, Andrea Emmerich) to scenes of singular cinematic and intimate moments (Ellon Gibbs, June Gutman, Peter Mix, Will Bruno, Lee Dawson, Sally Jerome, Amy Tidwell) to characterizing the artists’ everyday objects, places, and symbols (Anaïs De Los Santos, Ada Goldfeld, Michael Gac Levin, Jacquie Meng, Sarah Roche) to distilling a specific aura through color, shape, and form (Jenna Ransom) the exhibition celebrates diversity, where each artist presents their expressive power in their artistic vision.
