Whisper, a solo online exhibition by Susan Schwalb (b. 1944, USA) comprises a series of works from nearly half of century of the artist's practice. Spanning from the 1970s to 2025, this digital presentation combines minimalistic compositions of narrow lines and geometric patterns alongside abstract works that discover the expressive nature of silverpoint, which Schwalb has come to master. Abstract and fluid imagery meet - partly achieved by tearing and burning paper - providing a conflicting and personal observation of Schwalb's practice.
Schwalb's new series of works from 2024/25 entitled Fugue and Whisper, expertly combine the geometric minimalism and soft abstraction of form and line. Whilst sharp and exact in composition and structure, there is a gentle exploration of shape which invites the viewer to consider transformation from within the artist's oeuvre and expansive career.
