@meg.miai (Megan Mi-ai Lee, b. 1996)의 솔로 프리젠테이션을 선보입니다.
메간 미애 리 작가는 뉴욕을 기반으로 활동하며, 스펙터클과 믿음, 실패가 오늘날의 삶을 어떻게 조직하는지를 탐구합니다. 작가는 라스베가스를 하나의 참조점으로 삼아, 마술 쇼와 도시 신화, 간판과 소품, 카라오케와 같은 장면들을 통해 사람들이 거짓임을 알면서도 특정한 환상에 기꺼이 몸을 싣는 방식을 추적해 왔습니다. 최근에는 이러한 관심을 보다 일상적이고 접근 가능한 수행의 장으로 옮겨, 완벽함이 요구되는 세계 속에서 불완전한 시도와 머뭇거림이 어떻게 하나의 자유와 희망의 조건으로 남는지를 다룹니다. 작가의 작업은 화려한 표면 자체보다, 그 표면에 기대어 자신을 버티고 역할을 수행하는 동시대 인간의 감각을 드러냅니다.

IAH will participate in The Preview, held from April 23 to 26, with Megan Mi-ai Lee (b. 1996).
Based in New York, Lee explores how spectacle, belief, and failure structure life today. Taking Las Vegas as a point of reference, she has traced the ways in which people willingly commit themselves to certain illusions even while knowing them to be false, through scenes such as magic shows, urban myths, signs, props, and karaoke. More recently, she has shifted this interest toward more everyday and accessible sites of performance, examining how imperfect attempts and hesitation can remain conditions of freedom and hope in a world that demands perfection. Rather than the glamorous surface itself, her work reveals the sensibility of contemporary individuals who lean on that surface in order to sustain themselves and perform their roles.
