The presentation brings together four positions whose practices move between personal experience, cultural memory, and contemporary forms of image-making. New bodies of work will be shown alongside signature pieces and works that revisit formative moments in the artists’ careers.
A highlight of the booth will be a dedicated solo presentation by Etsu Egami, one of the most closely watched artists of her generation in Japan. Known for paintings that hover between recognition and dissolution, Egami translates figures into rhythmic fields of colour and gestural brushwork. KORNFELD Galerie will present new animal paintings alongside a design piece from her official collaboration with ISSEY MIYAKE. The presentation follows Egami’s earlier collaboration with Dior and reflects the growing international reach of her practice.
The booth will also feature Choppy, a signature work by Wonhae Hwang. Hwang joined the gallery’s Berlin residency program in 2025 and subsequently presented a duo exhibition with KORNFELD Galerie at the beginning of 2026. Her return to Seoul brings one of the defining works of her practice into dialogue with the city in which her artistic language first developed.
Seong Joon Hong will debut works from a new, markedly darker cycle. Emerging from a period of profound personal change, the paintings turn toward black as both material and psychological space. Through layered surfaces and a reduced palette, Hong extends his ongoing investigation into the foundations of painting while opening a more introspective chapter in his practice.
KORNFELD Galerie will additionally present a work by Georgian artist Rusudan Khizanishvili, whose current exhibition is on view at the gallery in Berlin. Khizanishvili represented Georgia at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. The work shown in Seoul revisits ideas and imagery connected to that formative presentation, bringing questions of mythology, cultural memory, and transformation into the present.
