Jedda-Daisy Culley | Works Available
Jedda-Daisy Culley is a multidisciplinary artist who breathes life into the small conversations we share with others and ourselves about our emotions and how we feel. Culley is recognised for her ability to communicate the female experience through abstract themes of the Australian landscape, wordplay and language. This selection of available works are from the artist's previous solo shows with Jerico Contemporary 'FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS' (2020) and 'Printers and Portals' (2019).
Collectively, these artworks see the artist draw attention to the varied ways we engage with and express our feelings, whether it be in person or online. We often begin conversations about our feelings with “I feel like”—three simple words that soften the entrance for the others that are destined to follow. They create an immediate neutrality between the self and other, imbued with the intention of meeting somewhere in the middle. Through exploring the relationship between the female form, expectation and technology, Culley enters a dialogue centred around themes of vulnerability, rejection, connection and access.
Landscapes and their parallels with the female form have long informed Culley’s practice, and these works sees the artist inspired by the desolate though vibrant plains of the desert. From intimate watercolours to vibrant paintings to handwoven large-scale weavings, each medium engages together in a collective dialogue about the female experience at large and the individual stories that lie within.
