For Mexico Art Week 2025, N.A.S.A.L presents a solo-show by Joaquin Stacey-Calle (b.2000, Quito, Ecuador) interdisciplinary artist, exploring here extended forms of painting; and its relationship with the image, the surface, and the body. Joaquin paints ambiguously ceremonial and intimate scenes, transposing the divine and the daily, as a metaphysical exercise and an intimate posture towards life. Nothing exists in isolation from the divine, or nature, so all representations are incomplete, and must be recognized as such. Erasing parts of the image, leaving the surface exposed, or working on porous and permeable material, Stacey-Calle's installation and pictorial project invites for permeable relationships with the world, for perceptions that break with hermetic and normative narratives, to allow new embodiments and desires.
