Tatanan dalam karya Yan tidak pernah bersifat tetap, melainkan terbentuk sementara melalui ingatan, emosi, relasi antarmanusia, dan pengalaman sosial. Seiring lapisan visual dan fragmen naratif terus mengalami transformasi, kondisi batin diterjemahkan menjadi struktur yang dapat dilihat, sementara tubuh, persepsi, dan identitas tetap berada dalam keadaan terbuka, cair, dan terus berkembang.
Within Material Polyphony: Traces of Labor, Order, and Transformation, Yan approaches painting as an ongoing process of organizing and translating emotion, memory, and experiences of identity. Figures, colors, and fragments of imagery are repeatedly layered, displaced, and recomposed, allowing personal experience to continually shift within newly constructed visual orders.
Order in Yan’s work is never fixed, but emerges provisionally through memory, emotion, interpersonal relationships, and social experience. As pictorial layers and narrative fragments undergo continual transformation, internal states are translated into visible structures, leaving the body, perception, and identity in open and fluid states of becoming.
