Anna Kiparis is a London-based artist whose practice explores the intersection of sacred narratives and contemporary experience. Trained as an architect, she found secret gem spaces in London, like crypts and chapels and turned them into parts of her site-specific installations that respond to the history and contemporary appearance of a place. Working primarily with semiprecious stones, which she considers a medium between sculpture, painting and stained glass, she uses slices of onyx, agate, and other natural gemstones, calling her pieces jewellery art. Kiparis treats stones as both image and witness, allowing their geological history and palette to become the beginning of a new story.
