LONG STORY SHORT

Sean Sweeney

Long Story Short is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Sean Sweeney, on view at the gallery’s window space at 96 Bowery. Sweeney’s paintings bridge photorealism and abstraction, capturing fleeting urban perspectives through airbrush techniques, resin, and found materials. Drawing from film photography, and personal memory, his compositions render the city’s surfaces—rain-slicked glass, chain-link fences, and gridded facades—as both barriers and portals.

Installed in a highly visible, public-facing setting, the exhibition places Sweeney’s work in direct dialogue with the environment it reflects. The layered imagery and atmospheric distortions evoke a sense of distance and immediacy, mirroring the act of looking through obstructed views. Seen from the street, the paintings become extensions of the city itself—filtered, refracted, and reimagined.

The works will be on view through March 1st, 2025 at 96 Bowery, NY 10002. This showing marks the gallery's first exhibition with Sweeney.
