Marshall Gallery presents a two-woman exhibition featuring new work by Judith Stenneken (German, b. 1979) and Krista Svalbonas (American, b. 1977). The conceptual dialogue between them arises from shared inquiries into themes of migration, the plight of refugees, European history, and the influence of architecture within those stories.

The photographs from Judith Stenneken's most recent project, A mountain is only a slow wave, explore philosophical ideas about time and identity: Amorphous portraits of refugees living at the Berlin Tempelhof airport dialogue with shifting landscapes and architecture that evidence the reality of impermanence.

The works from Displacement and What Remains by Krista Svalbonas illuminate the little-known history of Baltic refugees in post-war Europe. Architectural photographs made across Germany and the Baltic region are laser-cut to reveal archival letters and textile patterns that illustrate the history of Soviet occupation in the Baltic states.

La galerie Marshall présente une double exposition au féminin, dévoilant les nouvelles œuvres de Judith Stenneken (Allemagne, née en 1979) et de Krista Svalbonas (États-Unis, née en 1977). Ce dialogue conceptuel provient d'une recherche sur les thèmes des migrations, des conditions des réfugiés, de l'histoire de l'Europe, et de l'influence de l'architecture au sein de ces sujets.

Les photographies du projet le plus récent de Judith Stenneken, A mountain is only a slow wave [Une montagne n’est qu’une vague lente], explorent des idées philosophiques sur le temps et l’identité : des portraits nébuleux de réfugiés vivant à l’aéroport Tempelhof de Berlin dialoguent avec une architecture et des paysages changeants qui témoignent de la réalité de l’impermanence.

Les œuvres de Displacement [Déplacement] et What Remains [Ce qu’il reste] éclairent l’histoire méconnue des réfugiés baltes dans l’Europe d’après-guerre. Des photographies d’architecture prises en Allemagne et dans la région balte sont découpées au laser pour révéler des lettres d’archives et des motifs textiles qui illustrent l’histoire de l’occupation soviétique dans les États baltes.
