Garry Jones

Garry Jones is a Herefordshire-based ceramic artist, whose vibrant sculptures bring humour, storytelling, and surprise into the landscape. After 33 years as a professional sign writer, Garry made the leap into full-time ceramic art, where he has since built a practice defined by bold character, tactile charm, and joyful detail.

Entirely self-taught as a sculptor, Garry creates work that invites connection and laughter. Whether it is a trio of dogs leaning out of a vintage car window, hares on a motorbike, or a rabbit candleholder balancing carrots and flames, his sculptures are designed to stop people in their tracks and spark delight. He calls them “ceramics to make you smile” — a sentiment that underpins everything he makes.

Garry draws inspiration from the natural world, vintage machinery, and British eccentricity. His love of the outdoors comes through in his large-scale works for sculpture parks and gardens, where his hares, hounds, and cheeky characters bring unexpected joy to rural paths and quiet corners.

Garry’s sculptures are available to view and buy as part of Affordable Art, running from 31st July to 22nd September 2025.
