VIEWING ROOM

Celia Paul has chronicled her life through art from a young age, capturing the people, places, and landscapes intimately tied to her daily life. The exhibited works on paper, created between 2011 and 2024, serve as visual diaries, marking moments of personal significance, such as anniversaries, a saint's day, or shifts in perspective. Some works are dated, offering rare glimpses into these pivotal occasions, while in others the dates are withheld, deepening their contemplative nature.

The power of these works on paper is indebted to the mystery of the visual language which, in contrast to the written word, withholds explicit communication with the viewer. This enigmatic quality leaves the diary entry only partly narrated with the image acting like an echo of the moment recalled by the artist.
