BUTTER at Indy's Home Court 2024

BUTTER at Indy’s Home Court presents the work of 29 artists and five curators presenting work that embodies the powerful intersection of sports and culture as it uniquely comes to life in the Circle City.

Both sports and the arts industries expand our view and open opportunities for fresh conversation, unpredicted learning, and prompts to reflect and respond. Sports and the arts have always been about serving the community, a sentiment expressed by this one-time exhibition of 39 original artworks.

For BUTTER at Indy’s Home Court, the fair nods to its year 1 All-Stars: the Eighteen Art Collective. Artists also hail from all corners of the U.S., including Washington D.C., New York, Georgia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Many artists naturally gravitated towards basketball-related artworks, as many grew up playing and adoring the Indiana sport. In the same regard, more professional athletes are investing in the works of emerging visual artists.

BUTTER represents personal intrigue, memory, culture, appreciation of life, knowledge, and reflection, all guideposts for this year’s curatorial team. Curators Alan Bacon, Mali Bacon, Deonna Craig, Kia Davis, and Alan Mills are proud to work cohesively toward a common goal in this iteration using our voices to uplift Black artists from Indianapolis and across the country.
