Jiang Meng-Si (b. 1987)
Jiang Meng-Si (b. 1987, New Taipei City,
Taiwan) received his BFA in Sculpture from the National Taiwan University of
Arts and his MFA in Fine Arts from the Taipei National University of the Arts.
His sculptural practice emphasizes volume and presence in space, often
incorporating imagery of humans, animals, and elements of nature. Through a
tactile dialogue with natural materials, Jiang reflects on the sense of
disconnection in urban life and seeks to restore the inseparable bond between
humanity and the natural world.
He has taught at the National Taiwan University
of Arts (2019–2022) and Dayeh University (2017–2020), and served as an
instructor at the Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum’s Traditional Carving Workshop
(2019–2022). Jiang was awarded the Gold Prize at the Lin Pau Cultural Arts
Foundation’s Sculpture Competition (2012), Third Prize at the Taiwan
International Wood Sculpture Competition (2012), was a finalist for the
Contemporary Sculpture Awards in Chongqing (2017), and received the Silver
Award in Sculpture at the National Art Exhibition, Taiwan (2019).
