When you hear the word Ukraine, what associations does it evoke in you? War, pain, loss, fear? What do you know of life there before the war? Do you know about the carefree summer evenings; the Carpathian winter walks; the spring birthday tea parties at grandma's house in the village?
This exhibition presents a vision of pre-war Ukraine, in which there is no focus on post-Soviet life, no Soviet architecture - instead, the focus is on Ukrainian tradition, routine and daily life. Candid photographs capture the beauty of a country and a people leading normal, peaceful lives before the Russian invasion. The inner Ukrainian spirit endures, despite the violence. It was, it is, and it will be what unites them.
