BUTTER 2025 | ROBERT HODGE

Robert Hodge (Houston, TX) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of resilience, reclamation, and the preservation of African American cultural memory. Drawing from African American history and expressive traditions, he creates layered, collage-based artworks using found materials, lyrics, and imagery. Hodge’s work is a visual excavation of memory, history, and cultural truth-telling, using layered materials to explore the complexity of the Black experience in America. Through collage, painting, and installation, he reassembles discarded and found objects into narratives that speak to both resilience and erasure.
