PostmastersROMA is pleased to present a solo show of the Polish born, Brussels based, Radek Szlaga.
The atlas-like structure of the exhibition is a reflection of its individual paintings, eclectic, layered, stitched and suspended. The show is a journey through textures, tangible and ideological. The works at times are brutal or grotesque and at others majestic or ephemeral, yet invariably all are tinted by a hint of irony. Szlaga plays with a multitude of ideas and cultural narratives; those of identity, information diffusion and post-truths adventurously drawing on Eastern European and American visual cultures. The high and street culture meet on an equal footing. This multiplicity is echoed in the myriad of painting techniques and methods he utilises, oscillating between abstraction and figuration. Paradoxically, the chaos is based on rigorous research forming a parallel universe of Szlaga.
