Elaine Barnett

Elaine Barnett is a UK-based sculptor whose work explores the human figure as a vessel for transformation, emotion, and memory. A professional artist since 1995, Elaine’s sculptures have been exhibited in settings as diverse and distinguished as Gloucester Cathedral, The Chelsea Flower Show, and numerous private collections throughout the UK and abroad.

Drawing influence from ancient cultures, mythology, folklore, and personal narratives, her practice is grounded in the idea of metamorphosis — the physical, emotional, and spiritual cycles we each undergo. For Elaine, the figure becomes a map of lived experience, a reflection of inner change made visible through form.

Her work often evokes a timeless quality, shaped by universal stories as well as individual ones. Through the human body, she explores themes of vulnerability, resilience, and transformation, always inviting a deeper contemplation of what lies beneath the surface.

A quote from Oscar Wilde captures the spirit of her approach:
“He said, my friend, we’re all afraid beneath these masks of skin.”

Elaine’s work will be exhibited as part of Affordable Art at Canwood Gallery, running from 31st July to 22nd September 2025, the galley is open Thursdays - Sundays 11am - 4pm.
