THINGS
YOU
KNOW
BUT
CANNOT
EXPLAIN

AT LONG LAST, a selection of Rick Bartow's work, loaned to the critically acclaimed retrospective, Things You Know But Cannot Explain, has returned to Froelick Gallery! Conceived and organized by the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, in cooperation with Froelick Gallery, this career retrospective spans four decades of work; the earliest piece dates to 1979 and the latest, 2014, just two years before the artist's passing in April 2016. The exhibition was hosted by 11 museums across the country from 2015-2020. Everything was handled by careful professionals and remains in excellent condition.

Of the 111 works included in the exhibition, most are now in museums or private collections, and these 30 works are the only remaining works still available for purchase! This group includes iconic works in all of the media Rick touched. There is a particular strong selection of Rick's signature medium, pastel and graphite drawings on paper in which he is considered a master! Also check out the exquisite drypoint etchings and prints, paintings, and increasingly rare mixed media sculpture.  Most works remain in handsome, archival frames, although a few smaller works on paper have been removed from their frames.
