Simon Meiklejohn

Simon Meiklejohn is a sculptor and artist whose work spans the whimsical, the beautiful and the provocative. His practice is driven by a belief that art should be multifaceted, much like the human experience itself. Rather than working within one fixed style or intention, Simon moves between modes of play, pure aesthetic exploration and conceptual engagement.

Some of his pieces emerge from a place of humour and childlike curiosity, embracing lightness and absurdity as vital tools for perspective, joy and mental balance. These works encourage viewers not to take life too seriously and to stay connected to wonder.

Other works are meditations on form, colour, texture and movement, rooted in the pursuit of beauty for its own sake. These pieces are quiet and introspective, offering visual calm and the kind of background serenity that gently enriches our lives.

Simon’s most complete creative expression lies in the realm of fine art as meaning, where his passions for philosophy, politics, the environment and human psychology converge. These works are thought-provoking and layered, engaging with contemporary issues and timeless questions alike. Here, he explores frustration, hope, observation and critique with depth and integrity.

By navigating between playfulness, beauty and inquiry, Simon Meiklejohn creates a body of work that is rich in contrast and connection, always inviting the viewer into conversation — whether through delight, stillness or challenge.

Simon’s work will be exhibited as part of Affordable Art, running from 31st July to 22nd September 2025.
