Nicolas Party portraiture is strictly caracterized by an audacious study of the color, as important element of semi-surreal composition. The androgyny and abstract nature of Party’s characters is always in a profound relation with art history, also influenced by medieval art and 19th and 20th century painters. In his portraits there is a deep research of what occurs between reality of the subjects and the representation of them.

Party will be the subject of a solo show at Museum Frieder Burda, Baden-Baden, opening in November 2023.
