India 16x20 - Graciela Master SEt

In 1998 Graciela Iturbide took her first trip to India. There, despite the constant crowds, she was able to crystallize a new vision that did not necessarily require contact with people in order to establish a link with the place she was portraying.

“The photos from India correspond to objects, I think, to more symbolic things. I didn't want to fall into the cliched way of depicting India. I tried to see things other than those one usually sees in books about India."

“My work is egocentric. It is about what Graciela Iturbide saw when she was taking photographs around the world, nothing more,” she says. “I am showing how I interpret things through all the influences in my life.”

All works are $6,000.
